There was a Celebration of the life of Daniel Breaux on Sunday July 11, 2004 at Tipitina's.  There were about 400 people.- Much Dancing ,Merriment, Hugs and Kisses.
Some tears, and many very heartfelt conversations   The music was fantastic, the dancing was incredible, and was dat food  superb ? Mais Oui !.  From the conversations, it was obvious that Daniel affected many people lives in a very positive way.

Performers included:

  • Eh, La-Bas!  They led off the celebration  with some great Cajun classics !
  • Dr. Michael White and his band - Traditional Jazz at it's best !
  • David Doucet & Al Tharp - ( BeauSoleil )
  • Ben Schenck & members of Panorama:

A Special Note of Thanks to David and Al-
David and Al were there, "in the hall" but we ran out of time, and very regretfully they did not get to perform. Our special thanks to David and Al for being there.  WE ARE VERY SORRY !

Eh La Bas!! did songs from their varied repetoire, giving us New Orleans, Cajun, and Carribean, tunes, all with that great driving horn and rhythm section. Two percussionists, No Waiting

Dr. White recited the lyrics to his "Dancing in the Sky"  and said the song  was all about Daniel. Claudia and Daniel had picked the song "for their very own" the first time they heard it, and would look forward to dancing to it.  It was a very a powerful and poignant moment, and if you were ever gonna cry, that was when you did it.

Mr. Bruce Daigrepont We would like to give a special thanks to Mr. Bruce Daigrepont for continuing the celebration on into the night ! What music ! ! !

Kristy:  "I arrived empty and left full- my belly with the fabulous meal and my soul with our intricate conversations".  NOTE: Kristy will be in Germany on a Fulbright grant to do photos !

Peggy:  "I'm kinda beebopping by myself to the rhythm and Daniel suddenly swings me out to the center of the floor and we begin a "cajun" dance (so he tells me) where we bend our knees almost to the ground and stand back up and swirl!"

Mike:  "Danny told me that it was gonna to be too heavy, I disagreed. After taking the platform apart and doing it piece by piece, I understood that Danny was correct".

Tim:  "And for the woman swinging out there with him, well, she could be made to forget everything she was or had been just the minute before she stepped on the dance floor with Daniel".

Marie: "We will dance a dance in his honor".

Lisa: "I'm known for my red cowboy boots .. . the loving, giving, creative soul he was in this life."

Larry:  "His father had warned him not to bring any of "that offshore trash" home with him."
